Springtime in North Dakota
Whenever I travel and tell people that I live in Fargo, North Dakota; I get one of two responses. It is amazing how many people in the world have seen the movie, Fargo. It wasn't a bad movie but there was only one short scene actually supposed to be in Fargo. That was the scene in the bar where the car salesman hired the two guys to kidnap his wife. Most of the movie was set in Brainerd, Minnesota and Minneapolis but I guess Fargo sounded better than Brainerd or Minnepolis.
The second comment is that no one in the world has ever met anyone from North Dakota before and certainly have never been here.
I often wonder why I live here especially in the winter as it is cold here in the winter. What most people don't realize is that a great deal of moisture comes in the spring and often it is in the form of a heavy, wet snow. You can see from the accompanying picture that we received moisture last night. While it is not cold, we had hoped that springtime had arrived but our daffodils will be stunted again this year.
I have realized that I can't make a good excuse for living here other than my wife, Dale, and I both work here and our daughter, son and grandson live here. Our son is leaving for Tucson next month so that reason is leaving. That leaves our daughter and grandson and I suspect that if we moved, they might not be far behind us in moving also.
While I'm not sure of the timing, I know we will be leaving Fargo for somewhere warmer or at least on a lake somewhere. It could be in 10 years or it could be next year, I'm not sure but I'd like some suggestions on where to move. If you have a good place to live, please let us know and we will mull on it. Please don't tell me to hell as I won't ever get there and just save your comment.
Take care and thanks,
Jerry
