Relationships - Reaping The Rewards Of Time

Reaping the Rewards of TimeOne of the best things about becoming older is… becoming older! As we age, we find ourselves more secure in our lives and relationships. It's so much easier to just enjoy everything that comes our way, instead spending so much of our time stressing over silly little things that won't really matter down the road.

Often once we've reached our fifties or sixties, the house is either paid off or very close to being paid for. Our cars are paid for, our kids are grown, and we have both more time and more money to enjoy some of the finer things in life. Finally!

As an older, but modern living adult though, we also find ourselves living much more healthy lives too. And because of this, we have an almost abundant amount of freedom to travel, try new things, explore hobbies we've thought about for decades, and just plain have fun. If you're not enjoying the rewards of time yet, here's a few ideas of things you might want to try doing.

no one deals like we do!

1. Travel a bit. Is there anyplace you or your spouse have always longed to see? During our much younger years, we're often too busy raising children, paying bills, and building careers to actually go for extended vacations or trips. Sure, maybe we took a two week vacation to Disney World when the kids were younger, or maybe we spent a week by the ocean too. But have you ever wanted to go on a month long cruise? Have you ever dreamed of exploring the beauty of the Hawaiian islands for the entire summer? Or maybe you've just always wished you could go to Africa and help build houses for an entire year. Now that you're older and have less restrictions and responsibilities in life, it's an excellent time to revisit old travel dreams.

2. Try out some new hobbies. Hobbies are another area which tend to be pushed to the side while we're raising children and building our careers. As parents, we often found ourselves spending all our time and attention on family matters, helping the kids to learn new skills and practice their own hobbies. There wasn't really much time left for us to explore our own desires and skills though, but now is a wonderful time for that. Maybe you've always wanted to learn how to paint for instance, or you'd love to try photography. Perhaps you'd like to try your hand at interior decorating or woodworking and craftsmanship skills instead. Whatever those buried hobby hopes might be, try pulling them out, dusting them off, and giving them all a try. You may even find there are many new things you'd like to try that you'd never even previously considered before.

3. Learn something new. Gaining new skills and intelligence can mean going back to school, and by all means if you've always wished you could do this then do it. You now have the time and freedom to do anything you'd like. You don't have to go back to school to learn new skills though. You can take local classes, join clubs which will provide you with a variety of new activities plus new friends too, or buy home study courses and books if you'd prefer to be more solitary.

Regardless of what you intend to do with the new found freedoms which come with aging, go out there, enjoy life to its fullest, and have a ton of fun in the process too!
