Relationships-Winning an Argument?

Winning an argumentSometimes in a relationship, you can win by NOT winning an argument! Having to be right all the time exhibits a lot of ego and often can actually erode the relationship and create a wall between the two of you.

Observe your own habits about how you argue. Do you always have to insist upon your point of view? Do you say, "I told you so" or "Why don't you ever believe me"? The other night on the movie line, I heard a woman scold her husband for thirty minutes that she told him they should've left the house earlier because this was the first week it was playing. When he didn't respond she continued to reprimand him saying that he tunes her our and won't ever admit he's wrong.

She WAS right but the problem was that the way she was expressing this to him was closing him down more and not enhancing their communication or building their relationship. Sometimes you can know you are right in your own mind but don't have to rub it in vocally. Communication is an art and it's best to not get into a monologue that shuts down the other person.
