Veteran's Day - 2007

Veterans Day - 2007Today is the legal holiday of Veterans Day celebrated in the United States but the true holiday was yesterday, November 11.

I would like to thank all of those men and women who serve on active duty in foreign lands as they are in a dangerous situation and need our support. Whether or not you agree with our foreign policy, the troops still need our support and they need to know that we care about them.

I hope all of you take a moment today or took a moment yesterday to think about the freedoms that we enjoy and that someone's father, brother or child died so that we can enjoy these freedoms. Even if you protest against a war, please remember that people gave their lives so that you can enjoy the freedom of protest.

Marine Corps Birthday - November 10, 2007I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and I have the tattoo to prove it. I have never been in combat although I almost got into a fight while stationed in Kansas City but that doesn't count. However, I am proud to say that I served on active duty as Marine for over 4 years and while never getting shot at, I still served.  I'd also like to remember the Marine Corps Birthday on November 10, 2007.  I remember celebrating the Corps 200th Birthday in Quantico, Virginia while stationed at the Marine Corps Computer Sciences School.

I'd like to thank my younger sister, Lisa, who retired from the US Army after 22 years of service. She was in the band during most of her enlistment and while some people may not think that job is important, try to picture any military celebration without the band standing there playing. She spent many hours playing the piano at receptions and other official functions wherever she was stationed. Thanks, Lisa.
